Hîncești: Money distributed at home to influence voting choices

The accused, acting in the interest of the political party/electoral bloc whose registration had been refused by the CEC, allegedly offered and gave money to several voters at the residence of Feodora Morărașu: 1,000 lei to Eleonora Calancea; 700 lei and 100 euros to Anastasia Vrabie; 700 lei and 100 euros to one citizen; 500 lei and 100 euros to another citizen; 600 lei and 100 euros to Larisa Bicioc, to persuade them to vote for the candidate promoted by that political party and the option “NO” in the constitutional referendum on 20.10.2024.

Other property measures: Special confiscation of 3,500 lei and 400 euros; maintaining the asset seizure on land and constructions until the execution of the sentence and confiscation; lifting the asset seizure from the car manufactured in 2016

Relevant case for electoral corruption through cash, including currency. The court rejected the defense's version that the money was merely private intermediary/transfer operations from the Russian Federation for pension, child support, or assistance to certain individuals, noting that this version does not corroborate with the evidence regarding the accused recipients. Particularity: the prosecutor requested 2 years of imprisonment and confiscation of the car, but the court imposed a monetary fine, ordered the confiscation of the sums of money, and lifted the asset seizure on the car.
